Bring your pet in immediately if

These signs need same-hour attention during opening hours.

Breathing difficulty or collapse

Open-mouth breathing in a cat, blue or pale gums, sudden weakness or fainting — travel straight to the clinic and call on the way.

Road accident, bleeding or fracture

Keep the pet still and warm, cover wounds with clean cloth, and call ahead so we can prepare before you arrive.

Suspected poisoning

Rat poison, insecticide, human medicine or chocolate — bring the packaging with you. Do not make the pet vomit unless a vet tells you to.

Unable to urinate or repeated vomiting

A male cat straining in the litter tray is a true emergency. Repeated vomiting, bloody diarrhoea or a swollen abdomen also need same-day assessment.

Difficult birth or heat stroke

Straining for more than an hour without delivering, or panting and collapse in hot weather — cool the pet with damp cloth and come in at once.

Seizures

Note the time the seizure started, keep the pet away from stairs and furniture, and bring them in as soon as it stops.
